Lamb Kebab

Lamb is not only for Easter. As a matter of fact, lamb comes with this special meat flavor which is really delicious. You can even grill it for your weeknight meal.

Kebab means food on skewers, which is popular throughout the eastern Mediterranean and northern Africa. And for kebabs, lamb is a popular meat to have. With the different layers of flavors from marinade, the lamb kebabs taste just amazing.

For those who haven’t tried lamb kebab upon their grill yet, let’s start here with this recipe.

Ingredients you’ll need:

Boneless lamb

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped

3 cloves of garlic, chopped

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground pepper

Fresh peppers

Tools you’ll need:

Royal Gourmet Barbecue Tongs

Royal Gourmet Stainless Steel Skewers

Royal Gourmet Chimney Starter

Grills recommended:

Royal Gourmet CC1830F Charcoal Grill with Offset Smoker

Cut the lamb into more or less equal sized chunks. It doesn’t have to be exactly same in sizes.

And cut the other kebab ingredients as well. We use onions and peppers here, but you can also make it the way you like. Cut them in similar sizes.

Take a bowl and add all the marinade spices, whisk to a good mixture.

Marinate the lamb chunks for at least 3 hours, refrigerate. Meanwhile preheat the grill.

We suggest making this lamb kebab with charcoal grill, as the charcoals impart lamb unique smokey flavor, which is a perfect match with this type of meat. With a gas one you cannot get this.

Here we are using Royal Gourmet CC1830F charcoal grill, and we start the fire with Royal Gourmet chimney starter quickly and easily.

Once the lamb chunks are well-marinated, thread alternatively onto Royal Gourmet stainless steel skewers with onions and peppers, or any of your favourite vegetables such as eggplant and cherry tomatoes. Of course, it also works great with only lamb on skewers, especially for those meat lovers. As you know, kebab is an art of breaking rules.

Check the charcoal grill for the heat. When it gets nice and hot, throw the lamb skewers on grates over direct medium heat (when flames have died down).

Put the lid down and let the grill do its magic, which will take approximately 10 minutes in total. Flip occasionally so that each side of the lamb and vegetables are cooked.

You can serve the lamb with rice or salad as you like. The aroma together with different layers of flavors simply meets all your needs on a piece of meat.

Give it a try next time when you raise up your lid, and you won’t get disappointed.
