Carne Asada


Grilled carne asada is nothing but amazing. After my trip to Mexico, I’m deeply in love with the phenomenal grilled meat there, especially the classic carne asada.

Carne asada refers to the grilled and thinly sliced beef, which pairs well with tacos, rice and beans. If you are looking for some exotic flavor for your grilled results, this recipe is the one you must try.


Ingredients you’ll need:

Flank steak

1/2 cup orange juice

1/4 cup olive oil

Fresh juice from 2 limes

Some fresh cilantro

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground pepper

2-3 jalapeno peppers, chopped

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 tsp chili pepper flakes

2 tbsp white vinegar

Marinade matters to a delicious carne asada, but it’s not difficult to make.

Mix all the spice ingredients mentioned above together, and whisk to a good combine.


Take a nice cut of flank steak, which is commonly used in making carne asada. You can also use skirt or flap steak.


In a Ziploc bag, put the flank steak and pour the mixed marinade in. Toss the meat and let it coat the marinade well.


Put the Ziploc bag in fridge for at least 2 hours (up to overnight).


Set up your grill to high heat. One thing great about the carne asada is the charred flavor from grills, therefore, the meat will be cooked over direct high heat and get nice and beautiful sear marks.

It takes approximately 7-10 minutes for each side.


Slice the steak thinly, and serve with tortillas or rice and beans on the side.
